Everything in plain language.

Final expense insurance is a type of whole life insurance with a smaller face value, usually between $5,000 and $50,000. It's designed to cover the costs that come at the end of life: funeral and burial expenses, outstanding medical bills, credit card debt, and other final obligations. Unlike term life insurance, it doesn't expire. As long as you pay your premiums, you're covered for life, and your premiums never go up.

It depends on your age, health, and how much coverage you want, but most people pay between $20 and $100 per month. A healthy 65-year-old might pay around $40 to $60 a month for $10,000 to $15,000 in coverage. We'll help you find the right balance between coverage and what fits your budget.

In most cases, no. Most final expense policies use a simplified application with health questions instead of a full medical exam. Some policies are "guaranteed issue," meaning you're accepted regardless of health conditions. The trade-off with guaranteed issue policies is that they often have a waiting period (usually two years) before the full death benefit kicks in. We'll help you find the best fit for your situation.

Most final expense policies are available to people between ages 50 and 85. Some carriers extend coverage to younger applicants or slightly older ones depending on the product. If you're not sure whether you qualify, just ask. We'll look at your options honestly and let you know what's available.

The main differences are size and purpose. Traditional life insurance policies might cover $100,000 to $1,000,000 or more and are designed to replace income for your family. Final expense insurance covers $5,000 to $50,000 and is specifically designed to handle end-of-life costs. It's easier to qualify for, doesn't require a medical exam in most cases, and is priced for people on a fixed income.

Once a claim is filed, most carriers pay out within 2 to 4 weeks. Some process claims even faster. The benefit is paid directly to your named beneficiary, and they can use it for anything: funeral costs, bills, mortgage payments, whatever the family needs. There are no restrictions on how the money is spent.

It's possible with some policies, but there are options for almost everyone. If you have serious health conditions, a guaranteed issue policy will accept you with no health questions at all. The premiums are a bit higher and there's usually a two-year waiting period for the full benefit, but you will have coverage. We work with multiple carriers specifically so we can find something that works for your health situation.

Because final expense insurance is a whole life policy, it builds cash value over time. If you ever need to stop paying, you have options: you may be able to borrow against the cash value, reduce your coverage amount to a paid-up policy, or surrender the policy for its cash value. We'll always work with you to find a solution before you lose your coverage.

We work as an independent agency, which means we're not tied to a single insurance company. We partner with multiple highly rated carriers so we can shop around on your behalf and find the best coverage at the best price for your specific situation. We get paid by the insurance carrier, not by you, so our services never cost you anything extra.

Most people can get a quote in a single phone call, and applications are often approved the same day or within a few days. From first conversation to active coverage, it's usually less than a week. We know this is important to you, so we don't drag it out.

It's a conversation, not a sales pitch. We'll ask about your situation, your concerns, your budget, and what you want to accomplish. Then we'll walk through the options that make sense for you. If you want to move forward, great. If you need time to think about it, that's fine too. There's no follow-up pressure. When you're ready, we're here.
